We require a qualified professional to assume accountability for providing academic and administrative leadership, supervision and direction to support staff, associate faculty, and project partners to ensure the quality and currency in Continuing Education (CE) for a number of areas within the School of Health & Life Sciences and Community Services.

• Manage the CE Health & Life Sciences and Community Services portfolio to ensure up to date programming, enrolment management and financial prudence

• Facilitate and conduct ongoing review of existing programs and courses to reflect changing technology, economic and market influences and employment opportunities according to current business and industry standards and outside certification bodies

• Recruit, orient and schedule associate faculty to meet needs within the annual budget

• Contribute to annual strategic marketing plans and recruitment activities, with Conestoga’s Marketing department, to ensure program performance and projections are met

• Contribute to a multi-year operational and development plan for offerings to meet annual budget targets

• Monitor implementation of the operating budget – with a view to enrolment activity to ensure budget targets are met

• Research, develop, implement and manage new part and full-time full fee programs and courses to meet the needs of the community

• Keep abreast of trends and opportunities in post-secondary education and industry needs through external stakeholder engagement and networking, situational analyses, environmental scanning and professional development

• Undertake needs assessments to determine product viability by defining opportunities for change, gaining approval for new offerings and managing development projects to expand or change existing education and training products

• Provide leadership to Subject Matter Experts

• Plan and manage curriculum development projects to ensure completion of deliverables per stated timelines

• Provide leadership to coordinators of part-time programs

• Ensure currency and quality of programs and courses (and course outlines)

• Support CE program coordinators in completion of annual program reflections (APR) and major program reviews (MPR)

• Ensure accreditation or external certification requirements are met

• Ensure marketing materials are accurate in relation to the certification being provided

• Attend Program Advisory Committees (PAC) as required to gain input into proposed programs and potential offerings for different markets/clients

• Develop industry linkages by representing Conestoga to community groups, business and professional associations through participating in and/or facilitating meetings and events, and acting as a professional representative of Conestoga  


• Four year degree in Adult Education or Business; Master’s preferred

• Five years of relevant practical experience

• Work experience in either the Health and Life Sciences or Community Services sector preferred

• Leadership training considered an asset

• Experience developing college credential programs and curriculum development are assets

• Experience in college program administration, including Continuing Education, an asset

• Knowledge of diplomas, degrees and apprenticeship an asset

• Project management experience

• Contacts with business and professional associations and institutes are assets

• Superior presentation, team work and writing skills required

• Excellent conflict resolution and problem-solving skills

• Budget management and profitable performance experience

• Excellent computer skills including spreadsheets, word processing and presentation software

• Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively with a variety of personnel

• Demonstrate a high level of customer service

• Able to work in a self-directed but team environment
