New part-time support staff position


We require qualified individuals to provide frontline customer service in the areas of Reference, Circulation and Reserves, Computing Support, plus Media and Room Bookings on a part-time/seasonal basis.

• Provide reference services for Conestoga students, staff and the community which involves interviewing, interpreting requirements, and establishing level and detail of information needed

• Guide users in the inquiry and research process

• Provide virtual (online) reference services

• Provide circulation services using the integrated library system

• Handle media loan/booking services

• Assist with basic computing support

• Other frontline services which may be added over time

• Also responsible for opening and closing library facilities

• Support projects as assigned


• Two year Library Technician Diploma

• One year of practical library experience, especially in the provision of Reference and Circulation Services and working with automated serials systems

• Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills

• Dedication to customer service

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

• Problem-analysis and problem-solving skills

• Computer literacy skills and experience with an automated library system, preferably Sirsi Dynix & Workflows

• Knowledge of cataloguing standards and practices

• Ability to work under pressure, handle multiple demands and changing priorities
