Full-time administrative replacement position


Under the guidance of the Vice President, International, the incumbent manages recruitment processes and activities, and provides direction for growth and diversification of Conestoga’s international portfolio based on strategic market analysis.  An experienced professional in the field of international recruitment, he/she engages with Conestoga’s international team and school administrators, secondary schools and post-secondary institutions, recruitment agencies, corporate and government partners to increase international student enrolment, and implement and manage quality assurance throughout the recruitment process.

• With the VP International and International Management Team, develop and implement annual International Strategic Plan and Operational Plan

• With the VP International, lead the development and ongoing implementation of an International Student Recruitment Strategy (digital and traditional) in collaboration with the International Recruitment and International Leadership Teams, Registrar’s Office, Marketing, and other key internal and external stakeholders

• As a part of the overall International Strategic Plan, lead international diversification initiatives, including, but not limited to: utilizing digital strategies, strategic enrolment management, partnerships and government initiatives

• Lead the International Recruitment Team, including Recruitment Managers, International Digital Recruitment Manager, International Media Content Coordinator, International Social Media Ambassador team, and in-country (off-shore) recruitment representatives

• Oversee International Recruitment Action Plans for each region, including budgets, travel planning, fairs, agents visits, scheduling, marketing and support materials

• Consolidate regional plans to develop the annual International Student Recruitment Strategy and budget in consultation with key stakeholders; make revisions after the 2nd quarter and monitor business development and marketing costs

• Travel to regions to support and assess market activity, manage relationships, attend Fairs, visit agents and develop strategic partnerships (15% travel)

• Develop and manage relationships with recruitment agencies/agents, prospective and current academic, industry and government partners

• Maximize opportunities for student recruitment related partnerships as well as institutional and government partnerships, taking into account market fluctuations, emerging market opportunities and growth regions

• Oversee onshore international recruitment, encompassing international student recruitment in domestic markets (e.g. international students in Canadian high schools)

• Contribute to the implementation of a business intelligence system, CRM and other administrative tools and information technology supporting international student recruitment, including analytics to measure recruiter and agent performance, student journey and experience

• Collaborate with regional partners to promote Waterloo Region as a destination of choice to international students through FAM tours, high school/school board presentations, trade missions and agent events

• International Delegation lead for International office for schools, agents, government officials


• Master’s in Business, International Marketing, or International Education

• Five years of international recruitment experience

• Excellent planning, organizational and time management skills to evaluate, determine and assign the correct course of action in a timely and effective manner

• Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)

• Strong networking and negotiation skills and experience

• Outstanding client/customer service skills

• Demonstrated ability to manage a diverse staff and build a strong employee team

• Experience in managing change

• Project management skills

• Strong analytical, decision making and problem solving skills

• Ability to use good judgement, handle pressure and meet multiple deadlines

• Strong financial and accounting skills

• Ability to work at a macro level but also to produce multiple, complex, concurrent deliverables

• Demonstrated computer skills (Microsoft Office applications, relationship databases, web-based systems, social media)

• Demonstrated sales and entrepreneurial skills Extensive international business development/recruitment experience

• Excellent business development, sales and relationship management skills
