Full-time academic replacement position


We require a qualified individual to teach in the in Public Relations Degree program beginning January 2018.

  • Design, update and deliver a variety of courses
  • Define/evaluate/validate program and course learning outcomes
  • Ensure program and course curricula are current, relevant and reflective of best practices in the field by participating in community organizations and professional associations and other scholarly activities
  • Design appropriate strategies and tools for facilitating and evaluating student progress and achievement
  • Create and maintain a positive, professional learning environment which supports the diversity of students’ cultures, educational backgrounds and learning styles
  • Participate in department, portfolio/school and college-wide activities/task groups as required
  • Develop alternative delivery strategies, and online course development and teaching, as required
  • Work in a collaborative, collegial manner both within the department and across the college
  • Develop industry partnerships and collaborate with industry partners
  • Fulfil responsibilities as defined in the Academic Employees Collective Agreement


• Master’s degree in public relations, communications or a related field

• PhD or Doctorate preferred

• Three to five years of teaching experience at the post-secondary level

• Seven to ten years of experience in the communications or public relations field

• Experience designing appropriate strategies and tools for facilitating and assessing student learning that are reflective of best practices in teaching and learning

• Experience developing multimedia materials and alternative delivery strategies, and incorporating appropriate educational technologies into the applied learning process

• Excellent communication, human relation skills and a commitment to diversity and equity

• Knowledge and experience with social media and analytics

• Strong administrative, analytical and organizational skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Outlook

• Knowledge of learning management systems (D2L)

• Committed to working within a team environment and participating in a consultative decision-making process
