Description:

full-time support staff Appendix D contract - ASAP - May 4, 2018

Responsibilities:

We require a qualified professional to join the Cowan Health Sciences Centre Inter-Professional Resources Team.

• Service the Cross Centre for Simulation Learning through learner and faculty orientation, simulated patient operation and voicing, simulation participation, moulage application, set-up/tear down, trouble-shooting, inventory maintenance etc.

• Facilitate student learning and skills acquisition through Open Access Learning activities, remediation support, direct observation and documentation ensuring learners adhere to professional practice policies

• Lab and dispensary maintenance including stocking, prepping/cleaning equipment and labs, inventory maintenance, distribution of clinical supplies, providing support to satellite facilities

• Provide input to faculty and administration in regards to simulation case development, equipment and supply use, lab functioning and operations and all Cowan Health Sciences Centre policy and procedures

• Ensure learners and faculty adhere to policies, procedures and lab safety

• Pull and organize required equipment for upcoming labs

• Maintain equipment, consumable supplies, manikins and simulators, repairing if possible; reporting any issues requiring maintenance personnel/contract to supervisor

• Ensure labs are clean, safe, professional workspaces and lab equipment is in good working order

• Identify the need for preventative maintenance and repairs and advise supervisor


Qualifications:

• 4 year degree plus current Certificate of Competence as a Registered Nurse in the Province of Ontario

• 5 years of clinical experience in a health care agency

• Excellent communication/interpersonal skills in working with faculty, students and others

• High level organizational skills for planning activities in the lab

• Assertive, self-motivated and creative abilities in order to develop and maintain the lab as a relevant dynamic learning resource for Health Science Programs

• Ability to work independently and as a member of a team

• Creative ability in developing methods of enhancing the facilitation of learning
