Description:

Full-time temporary support staff replacement position Appendix D Contract September 2017 – March 30, 2018 This is an averaging of hours position (Full-time support staff will be given first consideration)

Responsibilities:

We require a qualified individual to assist employers with their recruitment needs by marketing a full range of program capabilities with a particular emphasis on co-op education offerings. The incumbent supports all aspects of employer recruitment needs and links them to other College wide programs and services, such as Corporate Training, Continuing Education and Applied Research.  The incumbent is largely responsible for the generation of new business and will develop and market co-op programs.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Contact new business prospects and cross market Conestoga’s programs to existing clients (employers)
  • Conduct face to face meetings/presentations with senior level management from a variety of major economic sectors, telephone cold calls and email requests to generate employment opportunities
  • Handle targeted mailings to employers to promote Employer Relations and Job Development services (i.e. recruitment services and new program offerings)
  • Provide employers with information about students’ technical capabilities to assist them in evaluating present and future human resources requirements and descriptions while generating appropriate employment opportunities for students and graduates
  • Provide employers with information about co-op programs under development and assisting employers to determine how new programs fit their business unit(s)
  • Persuade employers to hire students from Conestoga by using a wide range of business skills from client relationship management, problem solving, negotiation and closing abilities
  • Track and update information from employer/department communications in a Contact Management database
  • Build and maintain relationships with major employers on the foundation of solid knowledge of students’ technical capabilities, funding resources and other College wide services
  • Work closely with Employer Officers and Co-op Advisors who have referred students with specific employment needs (i.e.: specific geographical location, specific sector, significant barriers to employment such as disabilities)
  • Meet with students who wish to obtain more assistance with job prospecting and share information about companies’ business practices, culture and tips
  • Assist the College with activities such as obtaining letters of support and developing new program analysis reports related to new co-op program development as it relates to employment prospecting, gathering discipline specific labour market information and feedback from the business community regarding the need for new programs and skills
  • Conduct labour market and employer research to identify new business prospects and related professional associations which will support the hiring of Conestoga’s students and graduates
  • Internal data collection preparation and support including collecting, collating, analyzing and disseminating LMI to college administration and PAC’s under the guidance of the management team

Qualifications:

  • 3 year diploma/degree specific to the academic program being supported, or business administration – marketing, sales, HR etc.
  • 5 years of experience in sales, marketing, job development, public relations or employment assistance; preferably in  a post-secondary education setting
  • Sophisticated persuasion and listening skills
  • Excellent organization, interpersonal and oral and written communication skills
  • Proven track record of working in a target based environment; meeting and exceeding departmental goals
  • Knowledge of the Canadian labour market, Conestoga College programs, employment trends, and prospect development techniques
  • Attention to detail
  • Experience in public speaking and strong sales/marketing skills
  • A high degree of professionalism and diplomacy
  • Internet research skills
  • Customer relationship management and problem solving skills
  • Negotiation and closing abilities are required
