Description:

Replacement full-time administrative position

Responsibilities:

• Manage and maintain access control and emergency notification systems installation protocols, system standard operational procedures, while liaising with external installation and vendor services and resolve technical issues

• Ensure appropriate preventative maintenance occurs, perform software upgrades and oversee emergency repairs of security and emergency notification system (PPM/Alertus/AppArmor/etc.)

• Plan, design installation and operational functionality of CCTV, access control, emergency notification, communications (radio's emergency phones), door access and intrusion systems, platforms and manages College physical security installation projects

• Liaise and negotiate with external security equipment vendors, participate in RFP/RFQ vendor selection; oversee servicing and/or installing of security cameras/systems and emergency notification systems, ensures minimal impact on College operations

• Conduct safety and security assessments

• Lead the planning and integration of physical security design, solutions and services for projects

• Collect, analyse and interpret security data

• Prepare comprehensive budget analysis and request supporting documentation; manage budget allocation and ensure budgeted projects are completed and billed accordingly

• Provide recommendations to College management on application development, enhancement, and deployment activities

• Perform audits to track and monitor access privileges

• Establish policies, procedures and protocols to govern day-to-day activities of security systems programs

• Provide contracted security services with detailed information regarding CCTVs, access control issues and upgrades, hardware updates, lock down equipment procedures, radios, etc.

• Responsible for the performance of contract security staff

• Oversee the security contract ensuring schedules are filled, duties completed, etc.

• Assign staffing and workloads to ensure college needs are met by college/contract staffing

• Jointly with the safety and parking departments, manage investigations and document control

• Complete reports pertaining to operations, maintain evidence and information pertaining to investigations

• Ensure confidentiality with regards to investigations and compliance with privacy legislation

• Responsible for oversight and the overall planning, development, management and operation of the College emergency management framework

• Organize, plan and support committee activity relative to emergency management and business continuity frameworks

• Prepare annual emergency management planning and training objectives

• Maintain effective working relationships and interactions with appropriate local emergency service and safety authorities (Police/Fire/MOL/MOE) to ensure compliance, assist in investigations and prepare for emergency situations

• Responsible for the development and management of a training system to support the development of the College community in emergency preparedness, response and awareness

• Maintain personnel training records as required

• Work with various departments/schools to plan and co-ordinate security coverage for events

• Respond to reported occurrences and ensure investigations are completed; ensure appropriate actions and follow up takes place

• May be involved in responding to emergency occurrences 24 hours day/7 days week  


Qualifications:

• Two year diploma in a relevant field plus an additional designation such as Certified Protection Officer, Certified Information Systems Security Professional or Certified Protection Professional

• Three years relevant practical experience

• Training in/knowledge of applicable legislation and regulations in areas of occupational safety and security services

• Excellent leadership, interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills

• Proficiency with computer skills and commonly used software

• Strong mediation and conflict resolution skills

• Sensitivity and ability to work collaboratively in a diverse college environment

• Ability to handle extremely confidential and sensitive information that could lead to dismissal or even arrest of a student, staff member or visitor

• Must be certified in CPR and First Aid or become certified within two months of employment and must maintain certifications at all times

• Must possess a valid driver’s license and meet all eligibility requirements to drive a college vehicle and be insured under the college’s automobile insurance
