Support Staff Temporary Full-Time Replacement Appendix D Contract Position (December 15, 2018 to April 29, 2019) Full-time Support Staff will be given first consideration


We require a qualified individual to plan, create, edit, monitor, and review content to ensure Conestoga’s website provides compelling, high quality, accurate information to meet visitor needs and comply with accessibility, privacy and copyright regulations.

  • Undertake a comprehensive and ongoing review of existing website content
  • Ensure all copy is accurate, grammatically correct, follows a consistent and professional style, and complies with accessibility, privacy, and copyright regulations
  • Identify incorrect, irrelevant or outdated information and undertake research and consultation with stakeholders to develop solutions
  • Edit and incorporate written copy onto the website from individuals or departments
  • Undertake research using a variety of internal and external sources to gather information, determine user needs and best approaches for presentation
  • Produce error-free, accurate copy that is written in an interesting, appealing manner
  • Source images and artwork to augment written copy
  • Liaise with individuals and groups from across the Conestoga community to gather information, coordinate changes, and confirm content, style and presentation
  • Provide writing and editing support for page and content updates
  • Develop and implement an editorial schedule for the website to facilitate regular reviews and updates of content
  • Collaborate with Web Design, Web Development and IT personnel to ensure the smooth implementation of website corrections, revisions and updates
  • Monitor the behaviour of website visitors by reviewing site statistics to determine page popularity and effectiveness
  • Develop regular reports that include recommendations for change based on findings


  • Three year diploma/degree in English, Communications, Journalism, Public Relations or a related field
  • Three years of experience professional copywriting and editing in a complex corporate environment with multiple stakeholders and target audiences
  • Direct experience producing, writing and managing online content preferred
  • Superior writing and editing skills, with an understanding of the special requirements of writing for the Web
  • A clear understanding of the communication needs and expectations of a variety of target audiences
  • High degree of computer literacy: some experience working with HTML, web design and/or desktop publishing would be useful
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to work effectively with multiple stakeholders, including content contributors and reviewers, designers and web personnel
  • High attention to detail, with excellent spelling, grammar and punctuation skills
  • Broad understanding of current legislation and requirements related to accessibility, copyright and privacy
  • Time management skills, with the ability to juggle multiple tasks within a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative and work as a team member
