Academic Part-time Position


Part-time faculty are required to teach in the Process Quality Engineering program in the Spring/Summer semester (May to August 17, 2019) at the Doon (Kitchener) and Waterloo campuses. Areas of instruction include:

1. Lean Six Sigma

  • Understands Lean principles, data analysis methods, process mapping, and engineering economics
  • Working knowledge of continuous improvement programs

2. Root Cause Analysis and Structured Problem Solving

  • Problem solving methodologies, focus on The Eight Disciplines/8D

3. Reliability Methods

  • Basic reliability analysis, potential failure mode, and effect analysis
  • Role of life testing and development of accelerated life test models

4. Topics in Quality Engineering

  • Related current trends and topics

5.Customer/Supplier Relationship

  • Continuous Improvement and Problem Solving Techniques
  • Skilled at identifying customer needs and designing business processes and solutions to meet customer requirements

6. Applied Statistical Techniques – Basic

  • Introduction of statistical techniques to evaluate quality, processes, etc.
  • Proficient in Mintab® and Excel

7. Applied Statistical Techniques – Advanced

  • Advanced statistical techniques and correlation and regression
  • Proficient in Mintab® and Excel

8. Design of Experiments – Basic

  • Statistical Applications for Process Control
  • Proficient in Mintab® and Excel

9. Design of Experiments - Advanced

  • Statistical Applications for Process Control
  • Proficient in Mintab® and Excel

Candidates must be available to teach up to 6 hours per week, between 8:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.


  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Business; Masters preferred
  • Seasoned, results-oriented professional with a minimum of 7 years’ experience in Engineering, Quality, or Operations Management
  • Lean Six Sigma (Black Belt preferred)
  • P.Eng. considered an asset
  • Previous post-secondary level teaching experience is an asset
  • Knowledge and experience of computer systems (i.e. Microsoft Office Suite), statistical software (i.e. Minitab), and educational technologies (i.e. D2L) is preferred
