Administrative Full-time New Position

The Manager, Business Intelligence & Analytics Support is accountable for shaping, building, implementing, and supporting work involving business intelligence needs and the related tools that help to empower and deliver capabilities throughout the organization to our business end users.  The successful candidate will work closely with stakeholders to review and assess business needs for improved data and information to help identify and define solutions and use specific technology to respond to business, operational, and management requirements.

Successful candidates will be required to conduct work within Ontario and must be available to work on campus as required. It is anticipated that this position will meet the needs of the department through a hybrid work arrangement with a minimum of one day on-site, and four days remote.

Responsibilities:

Client Focused Support         

  • Lead the team to support the data, analytics, and reporting needs of the business as well as the analysis of complex business problems and issues
  • Responsible for technology solutions and tools across the College, including the support of on-premise and Cloud-based tools and integrations related to systems and services in support of data extraction, transformation, storage, analytics, and reporting
  • Manage a team of staff and assign technical specialists to leverage a structured approach to the testing, troubleshooting, and deployment of reliable tools and solutions
  • Manage and prioritize project work including development, configuration, testing, and ongoing support and administration of data extraction and transformation
  • Oversee and work with other teams within IT Services (ITS) to ensure the timely design, delivery, and ongoing support of infrastructure in relation to all initiatives related to data and analytics
  • Work closely with ITS teams to facilitate migration and onboarding of replacement solutions from on-premise to Cloud deployment platforms
  • Ensure documentation is developed in accordance with enterprise architecture, development, infrastructure, and data/analytics standards within college-wide governance
  • Leverage methodologies to ensure solutions maintain data integrity, risk management, security, and privacy requirements
  • Coordinate initiatives with suppliers and consultants as required
  • Ensure the maintenance of technology architecture documentation and distribute updated materials over the course of infrastructure and system updates

Tactical Planning

  • Play a key role in the organization and leadership of a Centre of Excellence specific to supporting the College with business intelligence, data, analytics, and reporting
  • Interact with stakeholders and maintain a presence to influence direction, sell ideas, roadmaps, and approaches
  • Provide input into department goals, objectives strategic plans, and policies/procedures
  • Support the development of AI/machine learning solutions targeted toward disruptive opportunities for the business
  • Stay up-to-date on developments in the field and propose long-term capability build-up
  • Research, analyze, interpret, and reconcile data requests from internal clients
  • Lead the collection, analysis, design, and architectural definition of innovative solutions to solve business and user experience requirements
  • Develop proof of concepts and proof of technology for solution ideas for the team
  • Coordinate with vendors to develop installation, training, and implementation plans
  • Prepare impact assessment and technology specifications outlining the impacts of new solutions
  • Provide guidance to IT Managers related to new solutions required to fulfill identified technology needs
  • Maintain estimates/forecasts and progress reports on projects/initiatives and related activities pertaining to the information technology environment

Team Leadership

  • Responsible for applicable staff development, motivation, evaluation, time/project reporting, and training, as well as encouraging the transfer/sharing of knowledge within the department
  • Determine work priorities/assignments for staff and work with them to establish project schedules, creating an effective working environment for staff

Qualifications:

  • Three-year Diploma or Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, Business, or a related field
  • Nine years of related practical experience is required
  • Proficiency in BI tools (such as report builders, ad-hoc queries, OLAP, dashboards)
  • Proficiency with data integration tools and techniques such as Extract Transform Load (ETL) and Change Data Capture (CDC)
  • Knowledge and experience with related areas such as data quality, master data management, metadata management, collaboration, and business process management
  • Excellent knowledge of the use of Cloud technologies for data platforms, data manipulation, data management and business intelligence concepts, enterprise data warehouse, data federation, hub and spoke architecture, independent data marts
  • Extensive background knowledge and understanding of Information Technology with the ability to research opportunities and convert into value-added solutions
  • Strong client service and project management skills
  • Knowledge of quality assurance methodologies and technologies
  • Established management, leadership, analytical, organizational, and interpretive skills supportive of delivering technology-enabled solutions that meet the needs of the business and students
  • Demonstrated problem-solving, conflict resolution, and decision-making ability with a solution-driven approach
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and consultative skills to work effectively with a wide variety of stakeholders, management, and technical staff
